Theater: “The Elephant Man” starring Bradley Cooper (from 2014)

Bradley Cooper gives a fine, nuanced performance as "The Elephant Man." You feel every grunt, limp, twist of muscle that afflicted the original E.M.

But the performance is also witty--his speaking voice is a cross between John Gielgud and Eliza Doolittle. Quite moving too. With the marvelous Alessandro Nivola as the doctor and Patricia Clarkson as the actress who befriends the Elephant Man. (Side note: G chatted Clarkson up after the show in Shubert Alley).
